‘There is More Than One Way to Skin a Cat’, Confirms Local Taxidermist

In the age of fake news and fact checking, scientific confirmation is about as rare as a Kennedy that’s isn’t rich. However, humanity received an early Christmas gift last week when a local taxidermist confirmed the old proverb that “there’s more than one way to skin a cat”.

“Oh yeah, there’s plenty of ways,” stated Clyde Dobak, 58, of Lubbock, Texas, “Heck, a few years ago I tried to count all of ‘em and ran out of fingers!”

Dobak has over 30 years in the skinning and stuffing industry and owns his own private practice, Hey Mama Mount Me -Taxidermy, located on the corner of 6th and Maddux across from the Fuddrucker’s. Dobak says he abides by a “no limits” brand of taxidermy and prides himself on the shear range of animal kingdom he’s stuffed. “Pet or predator, farm or feral, I stuff it all,” boasts Dobak.

The first known existence of taxidermy were the ancient Egyptians who developed early forms of animal preservation using injections with spices and oils. Nowadays, taxidermy services are sought out littledick hunters looking to mount their cowardly killings.

When it comes to the truth behind the late 19th century saying, Dobak claims the bounds of taxidermy are near infinite. Each taxidermist has their own style of skinning and the general shadiness of the business allows for creativity.

“Well when it comes to cats you got your classic Tip-to-Tail skinning,” lists Dobak, “then you got the Belly-Up technique, the Snout-Out, the Whisker Risker, and the Chesire Chest-Plier which make up the five corners of Garfield’s Star of Dermoplastics. But that’s just what’s approved by the TWAT [Texas Western Association of Taxidermy].”

Dobak was initally an apprentice taxidermist at Stuffed 3-Ways Taxidermy for 7 years before going independent. He now boasts over 150 species of animals in his showroom. His online gallery can be viewed on his website which looks like a MySpace page from 2004.
